Targeting children is sound business practice

In today’s corporate world, target marketing is common practise in marketing campaigns. Companies will take a segment of the market that they want to push a product towards and run marketing campaigns. This report will look at the pros and cons of running marketing campaigns that target children.

In regards to for the proposition, there are three main points to be covered: business is driven by profit; children have the right to watch advertising; and also parents need to take responsibility of their children. The below three topics will be discussed below.

In the world where the CEO goal is to increase its company’s profits each year, companies have to innovate and create new products to reach new markets and continually increase its profits. If they fail to do this, the CEO could be at risk of losing his/her job as the shareholders could vote a no confidence and give him the sake. Knowing that there is 4 Million kids in Australia (ABS 2006) that is 20% of the Australian market; CEO’s know how much affect these kids have on their parents in regards to the parents spending habits. The more the child convinces the parents to spend on the company’s product, the more profit the company makes, and the more likely the CEO will keep his/her job. Current research indicates that:
